Bộ phim Đầm Lầy Muối kể về Jackie Ellis (do Kelly Reilly thủ vai), là một giáo viên tiểu học tại một thị trấn ven biển hẻo lánh, nhưng từng là nữ thám tử đầy mẫn cán. Câu chuyện bắt đầu khi thị trấn chuẩn bị đối mặt với một cơn bão lớn đang ập đến, Jackie tìm thấy thi thể một học sinh 8 tuổi tên là Cefin, dường như chết đuối trong điều kiện đáng ngờ tại đầm lấy muối. Jackie buộc phải gác lại hiềm khích, hợp tác lại với người bạn cũ - thám tử Eric Bull (Rafe Spall), từng là cộng sự của cô để cùng nhau điều tra, tìm ra sự thật trước khi cơn bão tàn phá bằng chứng và những góc khuất rợn người của thị trấn. International Critic Reviews
Moody Welsh crime drama with a standout Kelly Reilly and strong supporting cast. A slow burn at first, but rewarding once it finds its pace. Highly recommend.
Strong cast, intriguing crime thriller, but as per usual let down by dreary DEI baggage. Let's start with the positives: the Welsh setting with a village under siege by rising ocean levels is a little unique. The crime drama, which spans two unsolved murders of children, is darkly disturbing with lots of twists and turns. Equally quality acting offers up well-rounded, often flawed characters. The downside is by now wholly predictable. The incessant need to ram DEI messaging down the viewer's throat. Personally I find it downright tiresome and pointless. In summary, it could have been a great series, but it's spoilt to a decent degree by the compulsion to inject woke narratives into what is supposed to be entertainment. An okay watch.
